We welcome you at the Managua airport or at your hotel in Managua, and then we will visit old Managua and the Revolution Plaza. We will see the building that survived the 1972 earthquake and visit the old Bunker of Somoza. Here, we will experience the great view of Managua Lake and the Crater Lagoon of Tiscapa.
After our tour of Managua, we will head North West of the country. We will visit Old Leon where the first capital of Nicaragua was settled next to an indigenous quarter, National Park, and Patrimonial site declared by Unesco. We will take a tour and learn about the first Spaniards that ruled in this country. In addition, we will learn how the natives were forced to live in this city in the 1600’s.
We also will visit the new city of Leon was built. On this tour, we will visit the largest Cathedral in the country which has just been declared Patrimonial Heritage site by Unesco and visit Ortis Gurdian Painting Gallery, and the Ruben Dario Old House that was turned into a museum.
We will drive to the bubbling mud pots of San Jacinto Village where you are going to be able to stand next to a micro crater formed by the nearest actives volcanos; especially, Telica and Santa Clara. We will also go to the Pacific beach to take our boat through the mangroves of Isla Juan Venado, which are a protected area and a National Park.
Day 1: Managua sightseeing tour and drive to Leon.
Day 2: City tour of Leon, San Jacinto Bubbling Mud Pots, Isla Juan Venado.
Day 3: Ruins of Old Leon, Masaya National Park active volcano, and Handy Craft Market.
Day 4: Granada city tour, boat tour and white towns
Day 5: Mombacho natural reserve and Apoyo lagoon.
